Last night some friends and I got into a conversation about the song Summertime and which version of that song is our favorite. I started listing versions of the song I love and then realized, christ this is clearly one of my favorite songs of all time with so many amazing versions. I have no idea which is my favorite.

The song was composed in 1933 by George Gershwin for the opera Porgy & Bess. It has become one of the most covered songs. I have at least ten versions in my itunes. I really can’t tell you which one I love the best. Billie Holiday’s version is amazing, so is Sidney Bechet’s is another one I love. Anyway, I am thinking about posting a different version a day. Here is Sam Cooke’s version. I hope you like.
